The MASH directory lists relevant and culturally appropriate services for people with a lived experience of mental health in Birmingham.

How does it all work in practice?

We will develop a consortium of local organisations and enterprises that specialise in supporting people of African and Caribbean descent with a lived experience of mental health.

Consortium members would agree a shared online referral platform that makes it easier to access services of multiple providers, without having to then go through a full registration process when they use a members service for the first time.

How are services selected?

We ensure that all the registered providers meet our expected standards of service, and have all the necessary policies and practices in place to ensure quality and safeguarding.

Consortium members will signup to a common pledge before being listed in our directory, and an audit visit will also be conducted before they are accepted. They will also agree to periodic re-assessments to ensure they still meet our standards.

How do I access the Services Directory?

ACCESS DIRECTORY

Note: The directory is not yet active - watch this space!

We will be developing this initiative over coming months.

Once it is in place a simple to navigate directory will be available on this website, available 24/7, 365 days a year.

The directory will be free to use for any persons with lived experience, their representatives, family members or carers.

Members of the Catalyst 4 Change team will also be on-hand to signpost to other specialist local community services.

MASH was extended in 2016 to support African and Caribbean women as well as men aged 18+ with lived experience and the age-range now covers any participant of working age. Find out about our core support activities here >

Ultimately our services are geared towards building greater confidence and resilience, and the ability to function within society despite any ongoing mental health or wellbeing support needs.

Additionally, in 2020  The National Lottery Community Fund  developed the Leaders with Lived Experience Pilot Programme  supporting organisations set up or run by people with first-hand experience of a social issue, who are trying to create positive change for communities and people who share those experiences.
