LouDeemY Productions delivered eight 3-hour sessions involving mentors, volunteers and mentees/participants that included exploring
mental health, resilience and wellbeing, through
the medium of creative arts.
"Run between November 2016 & February 2017 the group was aimed at current participants of the MASH, engaging participants in a variety of interactive arts techniques, including drama, comedy, creative writing, poetry, music, role play, monologue, sketch and ensemble activities."
The MASH Programme worked with Dr Chris Wagstaff (Senior lecturer in nursing. University of Birmingham) to take part in his study into the MASH mental health peer support programme, from the perspective of the mentors and mentees.
"The aim of this research was to understand participants experiences of being involved with the MASH project, whether as a mentor or as a mentee."
Several MASH members successfully completed the Managing My Money course delivered by Building Bridges Training in January 2017 and sponsored by Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health Trust.
"This was a 3-day course accredited with the Open College Network West Midlands, for service users who live independently and manage their budgets."
MASH was initially developed as a part of the Time to Change 300 Voices Project to support young African and Caribbean men with lived experience of mental health problems in Birmingham.
